Our featured guitar is the 1500th guitar produced by Olson Guitars. This special guitar represents a “milestone” and we wanted to make it as memorable as possible. Some of the most rare, and highly figured, “tortoise shell” quilt Mahogany from the “Tree” was used for the back and sides. The very tree from which this figured Mahogany came, was written about in the Sept / Oct 1985 issue of Fine Woodworking magazine. Click here for the original article.
The top is figured “sinker” redwood chosen for its figure and sonic qualities. The special commemorative 1500th fingerboard inlay was done by renowned inlay artist Larry Robinson. Materials including gold pearl, black pearl, white mop, copper, paua shell, green and red abalone, silver, and pink ivory wood.
